Could Infopreneuring Be The Answer To Baby Boomers Retirement Woes
Yesterday I read a truly heartbreaking piece in USA Today about how baby boomers looking to work jobs in retirement--whether for necessity or just to stay busy--are finding it hard to find jobs.
According to the story, the percentage of Baby Boomers who are unemployed who want to work has doubled to 7% since 2008, and like many unemployment numbers, that figure doesn't include those who've given up or are underemployed.
Why is this heartbreaking? It's simply unnecessary.
The baby boomers in this story, as well as those who are following in their footsteps simply assumed that if they wanted to, or needed to work during their retirement, there would be jobs for them...and you know what happens when you assume.
But baby boomer or not, even with us being well into the Great Recession, The Second Great Depression or whatever else you want to call it, most people still haven't gotten the memo that they may need a Plan B and make their next job instead of look for one.
These baby boomers simply didn't have a Plan B.
So what's a baby boomer to do?
Well, as a fellow inspirational baby boomer (I'll admit I'm at the very tail end, nearly a Gen X), I'd love to see other baby boomers follow my lead. It doesn't matter if you're at the very beginning of the baby boomer generation (generally considered to be 1946, which makes you 64), or not, there are options for you!
For goodness sakes, stop worrying so much about getting a job (although keep trying as well if you need immediate funds), and start creating your own!
The absolute easiest, lowest start-up cost baby boomer path to a retirement that has a whole lot less worry is to become an original content infopreneur (an information-based entrepreneur--one who creates and monetizes original content). And what better possible use for all the wonderful know-how a baby boomer has accumulated through the years through either a profession, hobby or life experience, than to learn to monetize that knowledge and teach others what you uniquely know?
And, best of all, there's no such thing as being too old to be an infopreneur, nor is there age discrimination nor a mandatory retirement age! Personally, I plan on writing and giving interviews about my latest project, well into the future when I'm 90!

Next Steps:
1. If You're Not Yet Retired
You've got a chance, just like when Scrooge saw the Ghost of Christmas Future, to change your future fate! You need to get your infopreneuring going pronto as a sideline, so that in your retirement, you could have a thriving business already in place without any worries. Or if you play your cards right, maybe it could just be the thing that leads to the two words everyone longs to hear "early retirement."
This is what I did after my second layoff from Corporate America when I realized my prospects to get a job that was anywhere near commensurate with my ability or the money I deserved were limited. I had my infopreneuring Plan B working as a sideline for years, and then simply took it full-time without missing a beat when the time came, and now I don't worry about what I'll do in retirement at all!
2. If You Are Retired
While becoming an infopreneur won't solve your financial issues overnight (although if you were just looking for a way to do something meaningful, you can accomplish that from day one), it pays to get your infopreneuring business going as a sideline to suppplement other income. It doesn't take long to create your very first saleable information product or service--it could take just days! And then being an infopreneur, can become a reliable source of income for you over time, and you can give up the job search for good.
I now invite you to learn everything you need to know, step-by-step, about infopreneuring and marketing so you too can work towards a worry-free retirement, or make your current retirement less stressful.
